Biography:
Karel Jezernik (M'77–SM'04–LM'08), born in Slovenia in 1942, received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1968, 1974, and 1976, respectively. Part of the Ph.D. thesis was done under supervision of Prof. Werner Leonhard at TU Braunschweig, in Germany. Since 1976, he has been with the University of Maribor, Maribor, Slovenia, where he has been a a Full Professor since 1985 and was the Head of the Institute of Robotics from 1985 to 2010. His research and teaching interests include automatic control, robotics, power electronics, and electrical drives. Prof. Jezernik is a member of the Electrotechnical Association of Slovenia and the Automation and Robotization Society of Slovenia. Karel is currently Professor Emeritus at UM and lives in Maribor and Portoroz, Slovenia.
